Reminisce: The Golden Era

Many of you may recognize me as "Sayuri" in the dance community. I am a Miami-based dancer and the founder of MENAHT Dance Studies, a non-profit organization dedicated to offering dancers a distinctive learning experience while emphasizing the rich history and preservation of the dance art form.

Although I've organized several events in the past, this year marked the debut of my very first Golden Era event in Miami, Florida. It was a 3-day intensive that focused entirely on the Golden Era of belly dance, the first of its kind in the USA. The event featured Lenka Badriyah from Belgium, a professional oriental dance artist committed to the Golden Age of belly dance. We were also joined by vintage enthusiasts Roshanna Nofret and Amara Sayid, who served as guest artists and instructors. Additionally, we were honored by the presence of legendary costume designer Eman Zaki, who participated both as a vendor and a guest artist.

Looking ahead, I am thrilled to announce that next year, we will host the one and only Julia Farid for another unforgettable Golden Era weekend, taking place from October 3-5, 2025. Get ready to immerse yourself in the magic of the Golden Age period. This special weekend will feature dance workshops, lectures, and an exclusive Golden Era theatrical production, complete with Golden Era acts, performances, and vintage films. Stay tuned for more instructors to be revealed soon! For inquiries and to plan your trip, feel free to reach out to us via email at menahtdancestudies@gmail.com.
